Synopsis
Cuba with Love is a photographic journey set amongst the music and streets of Havana. Wendy R. Walter photographed musicians for years in the United States, but was finding images, not connection. She found her muse in Perla Negra, a 73 year old Diva of cabarets in Havana. Perla allowed her into her music and life and this sparked a photographic journey for Wendy which took her back to Cuba time and time again. Documenting Perla's grace, dignity and style are set in contrast to the decaying streets. Ms. Walter discovered a Cuba rich in color, music, and mystical. Each visit brought her closer to her subject, and Perla and the city became inseparable. She discovered that the vibrant music on every street corner is the city's heartbeat, but it is the voice of Perla Negra that is its soul.
